Seed Testing Laboratory
Our laboratory is equipped with modern seed testing instruments required to conduct tests on a wide range of horticultural crop seeds as per ISTA (International Seed Testing Association) procedures. We assess the moisture content of the seeds at different stages, the physical purity test, germination and the genetic purity test.
The laboratory is managed by experienced and technically trained analysts who use advanced testing techniques, specialised equipment and appropriate growth substrates. All analyses are conducted in accordance with International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) rules and standards.
Samples will be drawn as per ISTA rules
Dormancy or Rest period:
Dormancy-breaking methods depend on the species being tested. Incubators used for germination test are designed to have control over temperature, relative humidity and light. We comply with ISTA rules at all stages of our tests.
Seed Moisture content:
we are conducting moisture test by Non-destructive method (Instant results) to know seed moisture percentage for most of our vegetable crops.
Physical purity test:
Seeds are separated from impurities such as weed seeds, other crop seeds and inert matter before weighing to determine the physical purity percentage of the sample. The analyst identifies other crop and weed seeds present in the sample and reports the findings to the Quality Control Head. Special care is taken to detect harmful impurities such as noxious weeds.
Genetic purity test:
Soon after harvest, genetic purity tests are conducted for all seed lots at the field level by growing 200 seeds of the representative sample, i.e., ground tests or grow-out tests, enabling customers to market their products with 100% confidence. We also use Market Assisted Selection for quick assessment of the genetic purity of our seeds; however, field-level assessment is also considered.
Germination Test:
The germination test determines the percentage of normal seedlings that develop under ideal growing conditions. In cases of dormancy, seeds may be pre-chilled, pre-heated or treated with potassium nitrate before initiating the germination test. All our seeds are subjected to this test. We also consider both Lab and field-level germination tests to ensure our seeds have high vigour and good germination.
Packaging:
Seeds are packed in different sizes according to customer requirements and primary packets are normally aluminium pouches and in turn in corrugated boxes. Seeds are labelled with lot numbers to ensure traceability, date of packing, current germination status, moisture content, etc., so that the customers would get the quality status of the seeds that they are buying.
Conditioned Storage:
All our seeds are stored under controlled conditions at approximately 55°F Temperature and 45% Relative humidity to ensure the longevity of the seeds quality.
